CleanNG is an innovator of advanced performance products for natural gas vehicles.  Our mission is to increase fuel range and efficiency for natural gas vehicles. Our vision is to be a leader in high-pressure fuel storage and delivery systems for natural gas and hydrogen vehicles.

Company Info

CleanNG was founded on October 1, 2010 as an Oklahoma, LLC and is located in Tulsa.  The company’s focus is on next generation fuel storage and delivery systems for natural gas vehicles (NGVs). CleanNG’s liner-less, composite fuel storage system, the MagmaCel™, will encourage adoption of NGVs across the United States. Current NGV fuel systems, specifically the fuel tank, have been a hindrance to the adoption of CNG fuel for vehicles.  Existing products lack the fuel capacity, range and cost effectiveness customers need in order to consider widespread adoption of compressed natural gas.

CleanNG’s MagmaCel fuel storage system will allow fuel to be stored at a higher pressure compared to the current standard allowing customers to achieve 30 percent more fuel capacity or allow for a reduced tank size, allowing optimal space in vehicle’s to be utilized.

Executive Team

CleanNG was founded by three individuals, while students at Oklahoma State University. Each of them bring talent to the company in the fields of marketing, entrepreneurship, consulting, b2b sales, customer service, advertising and public relations.  The team is motivated by personal interest in energy and technology, as well as the automotive industry. CEO and cofounder, Matt Villarreal, formed the tank concept during his undergraduate years and since then the team has further designed and developed the product toward commercialization with the help of CleanNG’s engineering team, OSU’s New Product Development Center, the Helmerich Advanced Technology Research Center and outside consultants.

Mr.  Villarreal’s passion for science and educational background in entrepreneurship has provided him with the tools and knowledge to lead the design and production team and manage business efforts. 

Michael T. Tate - Co-founder / Chief Operations & Communications Officer

Mr. Tate has built supply relations and managed the companies online presence. His educational background in journalism and broadcasting has given him the tools to write and secure research and implementation grants that have helped progress research and development efforts.

Aaron Laney - Director of Research and Development

Mr. Laney has more than 20+ years experience working with composites and is currently working on his Masters in Material Science degree at OSU Tulsa.  Mr. Laney has also been a small business owner and provides experience with project management.  He leads the companies in exploring new research efforts and executing manufacturing of CleanNG’s initial product.

Nate Waters - Director of Finance

Mr. Waters provides experience in finance and accounting from 10 years in the energy and banking industries.  Mr. Waters is also a Financial Industry Regulator Authority (FINRA) series 3 Commodities Trading Advisor.
